Music
"At Holy Trinity, music is at the heart of our learning, worship and community life. It is a universal language, accessible to everyone, and brings our school family together.
We aim to inspire a lifelong love of music by providing high-quality, inclusive musical experiences where all children are encouraged to participate, perform and flourish. Music supports our Christian values and promotes working together respectfully, as well as allowing opportunities for reflection. This helps pupils to develop spiritually, emotionally and socially.
Children explore the fundamentals of music: pulse, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, structure, timbre, texture, and these are revisited and deepened as the children progress through school. Through singing, listening, appraising, composing and performing, we celebrate diversity by immersing children in music from around the world, and through history. This allows children to deepen their understanding of the world and enrich the life of our school, enabling every child to develop an appreciation for music, find their voice and use their talents to serve others.
We provide rich extra-curricular experiences for our children. We perform in our church services, to local community groups, in multi-school choir concerts in our local town hall, and in massed choir concerts at Sheffield Arena through Young Voices. We perform musical nativities in Foundation and Key Stage 1, and an end of year musical in Year 5 and 6. Our school Musical Extravaganza is one of the highlights of the year, where soloists, small and large groups perform on stage to each other and parents and friends."
